As early as July 16th of this year, a peculiar advertisement appeared on Electronic Art’s digital distribution service Origin. This particular advertisement featured another game for gamers interested in preordering the upcoming release Medal of Honor: Warfighter; the advertisement detailed that they could potentially gain access to the anticipated sequel to Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, in the form of a beta key. Shortly after the seemingly good news hit the news aggregators, the advertisement was removed from Origin, however EA previously confirmed the sequel earlier this year.

A few days later, however, the rumors of the Battlefield 4 beta were laid to rest. Electronic Arts confirmed that those who preordered Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition bundle will receive an access key to the multiplayer beta of Battlefield 4. The beta test itself will take place during Fall 2013, well into the ongoing stretch of Battlefield 3's online multiplayer content support.

BF4 beta enthusiasts can also snag a copy of Medal of Honor: Warfighter’s Deluxe Edition for access to the beta as well. Guaranteeing a copy starts simply with preordering either edition of the game online or in store. Thanks to the accidental Origin posting of the news, Battlefield 4 campers can rest easy about getting access to the BF4 beta.

For the more voracious Battlefield 4 crowd, a recent “official information” compilation post by an EA community manager via the website Reddit confirmed there will be other ways to gain entry into the BF4 beta. The Battlefield 3 community manager also reconfirmed that the beta will release in late 2013 with the game’s official release date following afterward.

But what can current Battlefield 3 players expect from this sudden outpouring of news? The developers at DICE and at EA assure BF3 players continued support of the game well after the release of the Battlefield 4 beta and its corresponding official release. Battlefield 3 fans can also rest easier: both Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 won’t affect each other’s continued development. Thanks to DICE’s expanded development team, both games will receive the same attention gamers expect from DICE and EA.

So, the Battlefield 4 review is in: it already looks to have a good amount of buzz going into the upcoming beta release. The full Battlefield 4 experience may include and address commonly requested Battlefield 3 improvements such as a battle recorder, better Voice over IP (VOIP) support, better eSports support and even a spectator mode.
